O francês Yvan Muller (Hyundai i30/Yvan Muller Racing) assumiu a liderança do WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup, após a disputa da terceira etapa da temporada, no Circuito de Nürburgring Nordschleife, na Alemanha.
Muller venceu a primeira prova, disputada na quinta-feira (10/05). A etapa fez parte da programação da 24 Horas de Nürburgring.
O sueco Thed BjÁ¶rk completou a dobradinha da YMR. O britânico Rob Huff (Volkswagen Golf GTI/Sébastien Loeb Racing) fechou o pódio.
Neste sábado (12/05) foram disputadas as duas provas restantes da etapa. O argentino Esteban Guerrieri (Honda Civic/ ALL-INKL.COM Münnich Motorsport) venceu a prova. O espanhol Pepe Oriola (Cupra TCR/Campos Racing) e o francês Frédéric Vervisch (Audi RS3/ Comtoyou Racing) fecharam o pódio.
BjÁ¶rk venceu a prova de encerramento, seguido por Vervisch e Muller.
O italiano Gabriele Tarquini (Hyundai i30/BRC), que começou a etapa como lÁder do campeonato, abandonou as duas primeiras provas depois de um acidente. E não disputou a terceira prova. Saindo zerado da Alemanha.
Muller assumiu a liderança do campeonato com 137 pontos, seguido por Tarquini com 118.
A próxima etapa acontece no Circuito de Zandvoort, na Holanda, nos dias 20 e 21 de maio.
